Hyatt and Cici Brown named Philanthropists of the Year as local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals celebrates National Philanthropy Day®
Several “Agency Champions” and Corporate Philanthropists Publix Supermarkets also recognized for commitment to philanthropy in our Volusia -Flagler community
Hyatt and Cici Brown were the key honorees at the 2013 National Philanthropy Day® Luncheon, sponsored by the Volusia and Flagler Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). The awards luncheon took place on Friday, November 22 at Sunset Harbor Yacht Club , 861 Ballough Road, Daytona Beach FL 32115. National Philanthropy Day® is celebrated by over 125 AFP chapters across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“National Philanthropy Day is the day we recognize and pay tribute to the contributions that philanthropy – and philanthropists who voluntarily give of themselves – have made to our local area, and our society,” noted Kent Ryan, President of the AFP Volusia Flagler Chapter.
Hyatt and Cici Brown, recipients of the Philanthropists of the Year Award, were nominated by the Museum of Arts and Sciences, as the Museum’s most ardent and passionate advocates for four decades. Recently, the Browns made a $14.3 Million gift to construct the new 26,000 square foot Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art.
Publix Supermarkets were recognized as Outstanding Corporate Philanthropists. Agency Champions also celebrated at the event include (in alphabetical order): John and Beth Abernathy , Kevin Bowler, Louise and Wayne Cantrell, Representative David Hood , L. Gale Lemerand, Preston Root, Dr. William Schildecker, Jill Simpkins, and Mel Stack.
